Trip to Jerusalem Mill Village
Last Saturday Marcus and I took a trip to Jerusalem Mill Village which is located in Harford County Maryland and sits along side Little Gunpowder Falls. The mill was established in 1772 by David Lee who was a Quaker from Bucks County Pennsylvania. A gun manufacturer in the back of the mill made guns for the Revoluntionary War of 1776. The surrounding village was also the site of a Cooperage, Blacksmith Shop, Wheelwright, Sawmill, General Store with Post Office and the Jericho Covered Bridge. This mill was in operation until 1961 when the last miller died.
Great photos, great history!
Thank you Angeline. We only wish we could have stayed longer because there was o much more to see..
Marvelous series.
Thanks for the the compliment Mona. I get excited when we shoot together because Marcus sees things that I don’t.. Anyway the only way to get better is to keep working at it so that is what I plan on doing. Shoot shoot shoot.. lol
I need some advice: How do you post your images to appear like this? I can either post one at a time or in a slideshow. What am I missing?
That is a good question. I will look into it more tomorrow. Are you uploading your images to WordPress or are u just providing WordPress a link to where your photos are stored. I also wonder if it could b the template that you are using for your blog. Can you find out the name of the template that you are currently using? Let me know and I will try and look Into it.
I upload them. It could be the template.
Did you change your template last night?
No, but I figured out how to do it. Took me the entire Oscar program, but I did it!
Awesome photos! It appears that we enjoy photographing the same things!
Thank you! I agree that we do seem to have similar interest in what we enjoy shooting!
Great collection. Love the rich tones in the bridge and the macro details in the locks. Your landscapes are also stunning.
Thank you Anita.. Sadly we only had an hour to spend at this location so in order to make sure Marcus and I were not shooting the same things he focused on taking a couple of Macro shots while I focused on the surrounding landscape. I remember when he uploaded his images to the site I felt a stab of envy. lol.
Super series of photos guys!!! I love these old mills/furnaces. There is so much to snoop around that you could spend days there!!!
Tell me about it. Sadly we were only there for an hour! We do plan to go back in the fall.
Great photos!
Beautiful photos! I absolutely LOVE the old stone building. It is wonderful.
Stunning captures! I loved them. 🙂
Thanks a lot!
These pictures are wonderful! I especially love the light peeking through the clouds in the last two – beautiful photos and stunning colors 🙂
Thanks for your kind words. We had just left Jerusalem Mill Village when we noticed the light peeking through the clouds. We high tailed it to the highest point we could so we could capture the last 2 images of the series. Thanks again!
These shots are amazing! You have a great detail for lighting.
My favourite would have to be the one with the Masters lock and chain.
Well done!
Thank you for the compliment. It is my favorite of the bunch too. Marcus has a great eye for detail!
Stunning shots guys! I especially love the photos with the colors in the old wagon with wheel and the wagon wheel hanging on the fence posts; and the old Wheelwright mill stonework is awesome in both color and black/white, I love old stone buildings & fences. Oh yes, and ‘the guy on the ground’….it’s what we sometimes gotta do for a shot! Great self-portrait! 🙂
Love the sunsets and the one of the big open field!
Thank you! If you get a chance you guys should visit. From what I hear the best time is in the fall when a lot of the leaves turn into a bright red color.
lovely work, so many pictures in one post, wow. that seems like such a big project! If I get to Maryland this will be on my list of things to do!
I love your work, you have great talent!
Thank you for your kind words!!
I love it when you go exploring and take us with you! Fascinating place and you captured it so well.
Thanks Vicky.. We love taking these trips because it is always fun to see and learn new things!
Really cool pics! And this is close to me, so I’ll have to check it out!
Some great photography!
Thank you for the compliment!
Really wonderful shots! I love the color tone, subject selection, composition – great job!
