Boudoir Session (2)
This is a photo of the lovely Laura and it was taken at the boudoir sessions that we held at the Hilton in Columbia Maryland last weekend. When scheduling the couples and models we decided that we should work with someone that we have worked with in the past first. One of the things we have learned over the years is that one hour sessions can be very tricky. Meaning that often times it takes a good 20 minutes for your subjects to come out of their shell. It’s not every day that someone has a camera trained on them for a full hour much less more than 30 minutes. So often times the really good photographs are captured within the last 30 minutes and sometimes the last 15 minutes of a session. So we decided to start with Laura first. Marcus and I have been friends with her for over 10 and have photographed her on a few separate occasions. She was a little nervous because she has never done anything like this before but we assured her that we want to present her in the best way possible. Below is one of her images from the session.
This photograph was created using an en external flash unit to the left of the subject and the flash speed was set at 1/64. I also used a 568yn on top of my camera and the flash speed was set at 1/32. I used the Sigma 85mm set at f1.6 and the shutter speed was set at 1/200th of a second. For most of the shoot I used this lens and I shot between f1.4 and f2.0. For me it’s all about the eyes and I wanted the body to softly blend into the background. I have always been a shallow depth of field junkie lol J.
