Lynn’s Creative Portrait Session Wrap-up
I met up with Lynn at Centennial Park in Columbia Maryland for her portrait session. This was the first session in a while that I was able to catch a little bit of the golden hour in the evening. I have taken a lot of landscape images during the golden hour and I know the effect it has on images. For this reason during our families annual trip to the beach, I am typically up and out of the house by 5:30 in the morning looking for things to photograph during the golden hour.
When the sun is at its highest point in the sky the contrast in your images can be extremely high and the dynamic range of your camera is pushed to its limits. You tend to have clipped highlights and dark shadows and those are not ideal conditions for portrait sessions. During the golden hour the light tends to be much softer and they lend a warmth to an image.
Unfortunately it can be hard at times to convince clients to meet us for their portrait or engagement session at 6 or 7am :-). We could schedule our sessions in the evening but Marcus and I have families so we prefer to shoot early in the morning. That way we have the rest of the day to spend with them.
This was my second portrait session with Lynn and I think it went well. Lynn is playful and adventurous and I think it shows in a few of the images below.
